LSL
pooh -- Wednesday, 4 August 1999, at 4:51 p. m.
I just feel that it is messed up when someone comes along and messes up a good thing. I remember playing my first game back in highschool in the 90's. It had to be one of the most fun I had playing a game. I had always planned on getting the complete set but when I didnt have the money for it I just decided to get the most recent and work my way down. It just seem like fate that I should buy the only game that I had truly wanted to play when, I finally got a computer of my own, only to find out that the series had been canceled. I hope that all of us can make this guy change his mind and get the word out so that we can boycott their games. Seems crazy since I loved the larry series so much that I buy almost every Sierra game such as Age of Empires and such.
Keep hope alive
POOHMDK
Sierra ? no way!!!!!!
Patrick -- Wednesday, 4 August 1999, at 9:45 a. m.
I am from Switzerland and I am a die hard Sierra Adventure Games Fan. If anybody from "new Sierra" reads this Board, just look, there are Americans, Mexicans, Asians and Europeans beging you to bring back our beloved Adventure Games: LSL, SQ and more. I can assure you, I know a Company that still makes Adventure games, and great ones at that: LUCAS ARTS. If you don`t bring back the old Sierra Games, I will just have to change to LUCAS ARTS. And by the way, I wont by any "new Sierra" Games unless I ( we all ) get what I ( we ) want.
LETS FIGHT FOR THE OLD SIERRA ADVENTURE GAMES!!!!!!

TWO WORDS
KEVIN2 -- Wednesday, 4 August 1999, at 6:03 a. m.
THIS MAY BE MORE THEN TWO WORDS BUT GRENEWETZKI YOU ARE …
SORRY I HAD TO GET THAT OFF MY CHEST. . .
EARLIER IN THAT ARCHIVE OF MESSEGES Abdon C. mentioned something about a guy named K well that guy is mee. . he is right and it tears me apart to see such a good company and adventure games get flushed down the can like that. . grenewetzki. WAK UP and smell the fucking coffee. your ruining sierra. and all adventure games as well. . if you discontinue those games then you may as well kiss Sierra good-bye. . we (the customers) need you , ,
and People that are saving sierra. . don't you even think for a second about stopping this petition this is my second petition on the same bloody day. . and Grenewetzki. . you better see that we don't care for your shitty shooters and online games any more so STOP IT and go back to the games that sierra was built upon
SAVE SIERRA
KEVIN2 -- Wednesday, 4 August 1999, at 5:46 a. m.
SIERRA. . YOU NEED TO REALIZE WHAT YOU DOING TO THE COMPANY
POLICE QUEST THREE BROUGHT ME AND MY BEST BEST FRIEND TOGETHER AND WE USED TO LOVE THIS COMPANY WE WANTED TO WORK FOR THIS COMPANY SO BAD WHEN WE GOT OLDER. . YOU CAN'T CANCEL THESE GAMES AND LAY OFF THE WORKERS LIKE THAT. . IT DOESN'T HELP A BIT. . . YOU NEED TO WAKE UP AND REALIZE YOUR CRUSHING AN EMPIRE WITH THESE STUPID SHOOTERS AND ONLINE GAMES. . SIERRA IS THAT EMPIRE THAT YOU ARE CRUSHING. . WAKE UP AND REALIZE THAT PEOPLE DON'T WANT MINDLESS SHOOTERS AND STUPID ONLINE GAMES. . THEY WANT ADVENTURE GAMES WHERE IT REQUIRES THOUGHT AND ANALYZATION. FOR CRYING OUT LOUD. . . SIERRA WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sierra, wake up!!
Kevin -- Monday, 2 August 1999, at 6:56 p. m.
Grenewetzki, can't you see by the number of posts that people want these games??!! If you take away LSL, Space Quest, Kings Quest, etc. , people won't accept this, they'll revolt! More than likely, instead of getting more $$ (we know it's the root of all evil, especially yours) you'll be losing out because people won't stand for this.
You have to realize that to make money. . . . you have to spend money. Cutting the thousands of jobs like you did, didn't help.
And in the long run it's the customers that suffer because I don't know about everyone else but I refuse to pay $50 or even $10 for a game and then have to pay another $100 for my phone bill every week to go online and play.
Your online games lack skill, adventure, and any mind thought whatsoever.
Thank you for reading my post.
Sierra
Edd -- Monday, 2 August 1999, at 4:47 p. m.
I had been interested in Leisure Suit Larry games since I first ever saw my next door neighbour playing on it at his house. At the time I was a little too young to understand the game, but it stuck in my mind, until one day years later when I saw the LSL collectors edition, with all the games I had wanted to play on it. I bought it, even though I felt I was scamming Sierra out of some money by not buying the games individually. But despite this I have thouroughly enjoyed playing the games, and I hate to admit that I have looked up how to get through certain parts of the game, not really because I'm lazy but because I desperately want to get further in the game. And I don't think I will ever tire of the LSL games, and I am sure that if I purchase some more Sierra games then I will enjoy them just as much. I know most games these days go with fancy graphics, but Sierra have got an indefineable quality, which makes there games so good, and I just hope they will be able to continue making them,
Yours sincerely
Edd

Save Sierra
Patti -- Saturday, 31 July 1999, at 7:19 p. m.
Sierra games are the only games that I've bought just because they are different. They test your mind in addition to being entertaining. It really is a shame that they aren't making these fun adventure games anymore. Please, please. . . . don't stop!
So angry, this is my second message!
Woody Chang -- Friday, 30 July 1999, at 6:12 p. m.
Save Sierra! The basic theme of this message. That's the gist of it. The rest are the little details that make up the theme. Sierra On-line (Older Sierra Games like KQ4), Sierra (Even older games like KQ1 4 colour version), and Sierra Studios (Some of the newer games like GK, KQ7, LSL7 and so. . . ) have really brought together a society of thinkers. How? Sierra Adventure games have always made the gamer think. Sometimes it would be so hard that you would need a walkthrough. However, the best satisfaction from a Sierra game "was" to solve a puzzle and celebrate. I remember my first time through King's Quest 5. It was my first Sierra game I have ever seen. I remember the first set of puzzles. At first I was frustrated because the witch would keep turning me into a frog. Finally, I journeyed through deserts and beat that part. I was proud of myself that day (Note: I was around 7 years old, that desert navigation was tricky because you would always die. ) and would go on to beat that game. That was the past. (Seeing the "was" was in quotes in the 8th sentence. ) Now, it seems that the way to get "happiness" from a SierraFX game (Half-Life) would be to get the biggest gun and kill the aliens. What the hell? David Grenewetski, the bum who killed the real SIERRA, seems to have done a major mistake. The point I'm trying to make, along with millions of other angry gamers from all over the world, is to Save Sierra. (This is where I go on and elaborate. If you want to skip this, go right ahead)
Oh great, now what? Gamers will now have no place to put their thinking skills and find themselves withering away like Armored Moon. (In PC Gamer, this got a 17% rating. ) Instead they take refuge in older games. That's what we should do! We should distribute older games to the younger crowd. Then teach them to enjoy these games like we have. Then we will have more people to join our revolution for more adventure games from Sierra. We should also do what people described earlier, a boycott. When Sierra finds that their revenues have dropped off severly, he (David Grenewetski) will surely find an excuse and fire Jane Jensen (The last "Adventurer" remaining on the Sierra staff. ) Maybe Dave here doesn't like adventure games but we can push him into giving us back what we grew up on!
Maybe we should also add verses to the song but that's for another day.
Lets Boycott sierra games. . . . .
Lucas -- Friday, 30 July 1999, at 1:59 a. m.
I say that everyone who loves sierra adventure games stop buying sierra games in total and tell sierra to start making good games. Only then will we buy there games. . hehehe
Leisure Suit Larry
Josh Odom -- Thursday, 29 July 1999, at 4:11 p. m.
I say if sierra doesn't want to make it we all give Al Lowe a call and get him to start his own company and make it I think anyone dumb enough to stop LSL doesn't deserve to run a company and you can all see here how that has been taken to account fuck sierra if they don't want to make another I grew up with sierra and if they want to stop it I will stop buying
An idea
Joe -- Thursday, 29 July 1999, at 3:24 p. m.
maybe a good way to get results would be to start a petition of people who will boycott sierra games until they start to produce all tyhe quest games that made them a successful company nothing they are coming out with now is worth buying anyway and this may get some results
A greater threat. . .
Infamous-Llama -- Thursday, 29 July 1999, at 12:56 a. m.
We face a threat to Adventure gaming as we know it. Series come and go, (though I hate to see any of Sierra's go), but Adventure gaming has hit quite a slump. I'm a mainstream gamer; I enjoy a little mindless combat every now and then - I'll vouch for The Market that The MArket exists for adventure games. RPGs died out not too long ago. They were reborn. Adventure games have died now. Will a Pheonix rise from these ashes? Sierra has the resources and designers, and series, to make this legendary bird live. Heck, I'd almost buy a canary, I'm so starved. . .
Such a shame. .
Trouble -- Wednesday, 28 July 1999, at 3:11 p. m.
It’s really too bad that Sierra has decided to get rid of all the games that have been a success. Leisure Suit Larry, Kings Quest, Quest for Glory, Police quest and many more. It seems that maybe they think people want to just kill and not use their brains to solve games anymore. They should realize it takes more then fighting to make a good game, to bad they have forgotten all of us. . and decided to go with what they think is now the in trend, violence. .

Don -- Wednesday, 28 July 1999, at 2:24 a. m.
The president of the company doesn't know what he's doing. I agree with the guy who said start a small company. My friend is planing on starting one soon and he'd be glad to hire Al and the crew. Fireing 200 workers is over the line. LSL beat the crap out of Half-Life, so hire them back and make 8!!!!!!!

I LOVE the LSL games! I'm in shock about this. Sierra is the best! I can't wait for 8!! All those terrific games, and that imbecile Grenewetzki wants to throw it all away??
Let's hope he sees this and changes his mind.
they dont need a reason
Scott -- Monday, 26 July 1999, at 10:31 a. m.
Hey-
They always do this crap. . they just cancel a freaking series with ABSOLUTELY NO REASON. . Sierra has turned from the absolute dream company into a corporate puppet. . . I say Screw trying to get the games back from this bastard new president. . I say we just get together another, smaller company and have them fund the games. . . no point letting that bastard win. . . I say we get Lowe, Murphy, Crowe, Jensen, and Gates. . . all headed up by Ken and Roberta williams to make these games. . whatever company picks up these games will literally become a huge player overnight.

Hail,
I just read about these problems with Sierra and I must say I am absolutely shocked!!! What the hell's going on? I've been a huge Sierra fan, and the old adventure games will always be a huge part of my life. To hear that Sierra is closing down these games really makes me angry.
Can someone tell me exactly what's going on? What's happened to Ken and Roberta Williams. Are they still around? So are all of the Quest titles finished with??
Someone please email me!!!!!

When I was playing KQ MOE I thought it was the most fun game I'd ever played. The forum was like calling an old friend for help. I was overwhelmed with the amount of help that was given to me, especially in DOD. When I read today that there will never be another KQ it really upset me! The last thing I want to do is play an interactive game online. It would cost a fortune. Please bring back the crew you fired and let them continue to create more great games. I think you made a HUGE mistake judement!

I took the fact that this petition might not work into consideration, so I started searching for all those games with the Al Lowe sense of humor I never bought (all 2. . . Torin's Passage and Freddy Pharkas). Oddly enough, even though they've been out of production for several years, I was able to find both of them. These may very well be the last 2 Sierra games I buy.

Albert Buyco -- Wednesday, 14 July 1999, at 2:16 p. m.
I felt a shift in Sierra without consciously knowing about the changes until now as I read of Black Monday and the sale of Sierra to a foreign company etc. . . Things "felt" different as I visited their site looking for games. Everything had a different "vibe" (to use a '60's term)from before. I'm sad to hear that this change was not a change that was in the interest of the fans that the prior Sierra had won with their striking products and cozy "vibe" (to use the 60's term again). The feeling I get from the company now is a generic feeling. A similar feeling to the feeling I get when I visit a Costco Site or a K-Mart Site. I don't feel "love". . . the family feeling. . . or a sense of "belonging". . . I feel like a visitor. . . I know I am a visitor, but try visiting the Interplay site. . . sure it doesn't look as sharp and as "clean" as Sierra's but there's a comfortable, homely feeling about the site and as a result I'm there often waiting for more updates on upcoming releases. Those are the same type of vibes that I used to get from Sierra and their games. Let me know when money is replaced with love at Sierra and I'll bet you the "vibe" comes back to Sierra!

Dear Sierra Customer,
I took a look at the internet site dedicated to Leisure Suit Larry- it was really great to hear from so many fans! I hope that Leisure Suit Larry will be brought back. At this time however, there are no plans for the reture of LSL. I will forward your e-mail with the site address to the correct department. We appreciate hearing from dedicated fans. Good Gaming!
Thank you,

Although we were still shutdown I think they enjoy hearing from us and would also like to see a Leisure Suit Larry game but just cant come up with one. Maybe if we kindof write a story line and email it to them they just might be interested.

Dear Sierra Management,
I grew up Sierra games. My first big purchace when I was child was King's Quest 3. The King's Quest and Laura Bow series have been absolute favorites of mine! It makes me *so* sad to hear that these adventures as well as others, will never continue. No one is kidding when they say that Sierra had something magical that no other game company had. You put role-playing games on the map, you really did.
Breath-taking graphics, cleverly chosen music and memorable characters combined with intricate plots seemed to be what the Sierra magic touch was all about. Please don't let this change. I'm a huge fan of Sierra games, but it's the Sierra quality I've come to love, notbut your name on the lable is not enough for me

I recently wrote everyone at sierra in hopes to make them look through our eyes. I wanted to show them how a winning product will stay true in the eyes of many sierra lovers and that the true lovers would come back to them. this is the letter I wrote them
Hello.
My name is kyle I am 20 and have been playing LSL for a long time and have been loving it. I used to look forward to when it came out cause I would be the first in the store to buy it. there is so much happening in the computer and gaming industry now that would make the game so interesting for example *Multi player *build your own city, all interesting stuff I have talked with numerous people and they all love the game and want it back what do we have to do to have it made. we will pay for it and enjoy it. I thought you were supposed to make a product that your customers would keep coming back to well right here you have a winner. the same goes for the roger wilco games and police quest well please write back and actually take these comments into consideration and remember that we are buying customers that love your work and especially this game. thank you for your time
Kyle
I feel that they owe it to us to make another LSL game that we can spend numerous hours on just trying to get laid. what can we do to make this happen. lets make a stand!

How can the *Ultimate Swinger* die??
Elise Edson -- Wednesday, 7 July 1999, at 3:23 p. m.
Sierra has always been the hallmark of good gaming fun with such games as King's Quest, LSL, and Star Quest. Rather than shooting for technologically straining new gaming advances, Sierra went for what really mattered - plot, humor, and conent. I grew up with King Graham and Alexander and Larry L:affer -- eagerly awaiting the forthcoming sequels. No more?? This isn't right. SAVE SIERRA!!!
Let Laffer Alive
Chris Canter -- Wednesday, 7 July 1999, at 2:37 p. m.
Despite the old-fashioned graphics, and the parser interface that gets your wrists to bleed, the original LSL1 has always been my favorite game. It's like a book or a song, the impact of which simply can't be explained to anyone. This goes for other Sierra adventures as well. Naturally, any intelligent gamer wants the Sierra company to keep producing the games that change lives. And to stay loyal to those who made it all possible - such as Mr Lowe.
Save Sierra - Adventure Game Lover
Peter Claus -- Monday, 5 July 1999, at 12:11 p. m.
Sierra needs to stay alive and continue producing the wonderful adventure series, and of course, new series. There may be fewer people playing them at the moment as new gamers tend to prefer the action genre of games. But if Sierra kill off these series and retrench these people, they might as close shop.
Sierra also have action and sport series, but I do not believe they will survive if they kill off the adventure game series, there are too many other companies producing games of better quality than most of these type of games, Half-Life being an exception.
When Sierra tried to modify the latest Kings Quest game into a quasi Action Game, it became a flop. The traditional adventure gamers were not comfortable with it and as it was not a true action game, those gamers were not happy.
Sierra has to market its adventure games more to new gamers as well as those who prefer the action games.
I hope Sierra realise what they are doing before it is too late. I hope the Gabriel Knight as well as the other series continue to flourish.
Sierra Management. Please heed these words.

How many more people are out there just itchin for this game. You guys are right they have their heads up there ass. Hey Sierra if you are reading this I wanna let you know this. Sierra adventure games were the best games I ever played. I say "WERE" because I fear they completely disappeared. And with them, Sierra. As in many other companies, Sierra suffers now from a lack of creativity and originality. In the past, they've created a lot of great games, but now, they fear to TRY something ORIGINAL, FUNNY. They just copy the others. HEY GUYS, WAKE UP!

Save Sierra! I grew up on all their games and I LOVE them. I would be very happy if they made even more to continue their adventure series.
Sierra? Sierra who?
Gray -- Saturday, 3 July 1999, at 2:10 a. m.
you know what? maybe Sierra SHOULD just disappear. honestly, I grew up on the games. I played the first king's quest (when it was only in black and white, people. . . . ) when I was a wee lad. my parents approved of sierra games because it helped me learn to type and use the computer, and they liked the fact that I was required to think (in the form of sentences).
I think one of my favorites is STILL space quest 2, despite the comparatively crappy graphics.
I always liked the king's quest series (though I never played past 6), space quest, police quest, quest for glory. . . . I LOVED conquest of the longbow. . . . great games, all of them!
but okay. I've purchased two of those collections, so far. and I know I can't really play several of the games on both. WHY? because my computer is apparently too good!
Sierra has turned on its customers, people. let's face it. they couldn't put ANY effort into finding a solution to problems older games would face with a pentium computer? bull! origin fixed up their original wing commander (in the kilrathi saga collection) in order to run normally on pentiums!
I never played mask of eternity. a friend said it was a major disappointment. I DID play dragon fire, however. that was definitely a disappointment. the graphics were not quite as state of the art as I was led to believe. the story was weak. the puzzles were the weakest (unless you count figuring out ways to get around the massive amounts of bugs).
sierra has lost its touch. yeah, I played halflife. it's a good game. . . . but thief was much better. why? it was innovative.
the only company that's put out decent adventure games has been lucasarts. grim fandango was a great game (interface took some getting used to). and curse of monkey island was a brilliant game. it kept the same humor, same major characters, similar enough interface with brand new lovely graphics. the puzzles were just challenging enough to make me think, and sometimes stump me for days, if not weeks. . . but never so difficult that they seemed irrelevant. lucasarts has certainly jumped on the first-person shooter and simulation bandwagon, but they still haven't abandoned their adventure games. . . . and their action games display a lot more ingenuity in their development.
Sierra might as well abandon its famous series' is what I'm saying. I don't think they're capable of satisfying any of us anymore. in the best interests of the series, and those who've always loved them (before all this CRAP sierra's been putting out), sierra should sell the rights to a crew that's more dedicated to making a decent adventure game, not cashing in on an old franchise
Don't Let Sierra Die!

I couldn't believe it when I found out about this, and I couldn't believe it took me this long to find out. Not only is it unbelieveable that someone could do something this stupid like shutting down one of the number one software companies in the world, but they shut down production on one of the best selling game series ever, the irrepressible Leaisure Suit Larry. So, for the sake of game fans everywhere, and especially for those put out of work because of this monumentally stupid move, please reconsider this decision.

LSL is *the* funniest and best adventure series of all time. you can't just let it go. why are you cutting it? on your LSL7 box, you are BOASTING about how many larry adventures have been sold!! it is something to be proud of, not something to be kicked to the side. many, many people will by your game, whether you think so or not (including me). you might see cutting the series as an economical decision, but it will be just the opposite. people will be thinking of you guys at sierra as dickheads. do people want to buy dickhead software? no. just something to think about. . .
Hello my name is Charlie and I am a big fan of your work. I was wondering if their was any secret codes for Leisure suit Larry7. I passed Leisure Suit Larry1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, Please write back it would be an honor to receive a letter from you.
Sincerely.
Charlie
yeah baby
The year was 1988 and I was 8 years old. I was round my friends house and he had a PC. Thats where I saw my first adventure game - Leisure Suit Larry. I remember how fun it was to roam the artficial world and type things in! Even though I didn't really understand the adult content, I completed the game with help from my liberally minded father! That Christmas I recieved A PC with Larry 1, PQ1 and SQ1. . . . . . and so it began. We need sierras old programmers - we need you and all the other guys! Great games are made by imaginative people not big budgets. All I can say to you Al is if there are no more Larrys then create another superstar! You can do it you've done it before! You don't need Sierra, I'll help! My adventure gaming started with you - if you hadn't created LSL1 I would have taken a completly differnt path in life! Believe it dude!
Keep the games coming

Al, I must say, of all the games I've bought over the years, the Leisure Suit Larry series had the shiniest boxes.
Hee heh sorry :) No, I loved them all… good job. I find it such a shame that Sierra has become something twisted as of late. . . the release of Scott Murphy from his contract, the firing of the Yosemite Games section after moving them from California to Seattle, and thus the destruction of the B5 game.
I just wanted to say, that it was games like yours that made Sierra a success and gave me hours of laughs.
Richard Heck
Hey. . . . I just found this site, I just wanted to tell you that you are a TOTALY AWESOME person. I boug LSL1, 2, 3 and than I decided to buy the LSL Suite and I LOVE IT TO DEATH!!!! I just wanted to say that I think that you are a brilliant man and thanks for making LSL for us all to have somthing fun to do while at work :)

Dear Mr. Lowe
I am just outraged at what I just read under your your Larry link. I cant believe Sierra said that they dont want to make a new Larry game at this time!! Who do they think they are!! They need Larry, its the only funny game out there, there are to many shoot ‘em ups and war strategies. . . . . have they become engulfed with blood lust or have they lost their sense of humour?Hell I would even like to start a petition and send it over to the Sierra board. If a petition would work let me know I will try and organize something with the rest of the Larry Fan sites.
Oh well who am I anyway, But I just wanted you to know that I have been playing Larry ever since the text adventure and will keep on buying Larry til I die (Well thats a bit extreme but, something aloing the line) Just a minor note I do copy games sometimes but I always bought Larry since I know the gaming industry needs support and the box just makes it whole lot more fun.
Anyway I think I have bored you enough and I'll let you get back to working on Larry 8, right?
Take care and please let me know what you think of the petition? And thanks for a great game series!

Hello DEAR guys from Sierra (Expesially you Al):
I kinda thought about your idea to help you with ideas how to create Leasure Suit Larry 8. It would be good that the game starts at the end of the LSL7 when Larry sleeps with that beautiful hard Captain and then the UFO-s come. Aliens will kidnape Larry and kill him. . . . but!! Larry will go to the "other world" and he must go to Paradice. He wants to live more and the angels (with big breasts) give him a test. If he win he will go back to the Earthbut if he lose he is going to Hell for breaking the Heven's rools. He's back!! And he have to screw lotsa women to show himself like a real MACHO man. He'll screw the angel, too. The devils are going to sabotage him in many ways but is he a Larry or not?He must win. The angels put him in Europe. You can choose would you like to make the game in Spain, France, German, or somewhere else. . .
If it was useful, please make some suprise in the game for your funs from YUGOSLAVIA, (Draw somewhere our names or on something. . ) Put Some FAMOUS women in game like Pamela Anderson or other acctresses maybe some monkeys (please not beavers anymore!!!) and Spanishmen or Yugoslavian guys. Make a little HOTer Easter Eggs (like the shower one in Larry 6). . Let’s it call- Larry in the Fight for life 8.
If you don’t like the idea of paradice and hell, here’s an idea for “Larry Lost In Space 8”: Larry is taken by the USA goverment, NASA for an experimen. . . He’s on the satelite near Moon where the operators are all chicks!! He’ll screw most of them for gettin’ out from there!!!! The Captain will give him then a “lifeboat”, shuttle and he’ll fly down to Earth. . . But it would be no game if Larry don’t make something wrong, so he’ll fall on Earth because he don’t know how to operate with a shuttle. There would be some chick( the best one)in the shuttle with him that he could do something while he’s landing. . .
Do you like it? No? Why? Then, If it was useful please make some suprise in the game for your funs from YUGOSLAVIA , (Draw somewhere our names or on something. . ) Okey dokkie?

Hi!
I’m just writing to thank you for all your wonderful games—I first became acquainted with the Larry series in 1992 when I was 12 (I uh. . . I was looking for a different type of game at the time, though), and have really enjoyed all the other games in the series, as well as The Laffer Utilities, Leisure Suit Larry’s Casino, Torin’s Passage, and Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmacist. Anyway, I have two questions.
Actually, one of them isn’t quite as stupid as the subject line implies. I think I’ll ask that one first. In Larry 6, Patti dissappears altogether. In the Official Book of Leisure Suit Larry, she is mentioned frequently. Had you meant to cut her character out of the game altogether, or was she going to come back?
My second question (the stupid one) relates to Freddy Pharkas. There’s a scene in the game in which several characters are standing outside the outhouse, and when Freddy talks to them, he asks, “Say! Do any of you folks know how to Madison?”
This exact line appears in The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and I, being an embarrassingly big RHPS fan, had to ask. That plus the fact that I live in Stoughton, Wisconsin, which is rather close to Madison, and my friends and I always make fun of that line.
Thanks for the great games,
Colin
Al,
Any news or info on a possible LSL8 yet? I still send emails to Dave G. , and to Sierra, trying to get them to change their minds, but I must admit that it looks pretty bleak. Unless, of course, something has happened that we fans don’t know about yet. . . To the best of your knowledge, has any other software manufacturer shown interest in purchasing the property from Sierra? For that matter, have they ever named a price? Hell, maybe a group of fans might even be able to meet Sierra’s price, then sell the character to you for a figure you can manage. Sure it has that corny old “Let’s put on a show!” feel to it, but it might be a possibility (no matter how remote) worth exploring. Just fill me in on any info you may have whenever you get a chance. We miss Larry, and we miss you, Al. Though we may get discouraged or sidetracked (by that pesky thing called life), card-carrying LSL geeks like me aren’t ever going to give up hope. Thanks!
Jeff Krouskop
This e-mail is similar to my guestbook entry. Anyway. For me, Larry is the best adventure ever (100% lifestyle, great music!), and it was the first game I’ve played when I was in school. Hope you’re not bored by this fan e-mail (we all tell you the same I think). Our teacher told us to write pascal programs but we prefered playing Leisure Suit Larry in the land of the Lounge Lizards (do you like Lurie’s band too?). Your games are the real deal. Thanks for your funny games Al.
Best,
Thomas
I am a German Fan, so I have got a very bad English! But listen:Larry is one who never give up! So you ever said, you are a part of him! But now you give up producing Larry 8!WHY? Of course sierra has the rights, but get them back and you will see!Larry 8 will have great success! All Adventure Fans in the world are waiting for it!!!

It angers me that those bloody bastards at Sierra fired you!!! Leisure Suit Larry is the greatest computer adventure game series EVER! The sad thing is that the series was getting better and better as it progressed. Lsl 7 must be my favorite game of all time! And I have been faithfully awaiting the day that "Larry Explores Uranus" came out. Until, I read about black monday. Anyway, you're the greatest, Al. I hope that those simpletons at Sierra changes their mind and comes back crawling on their knees toward you. p. s. your humor section is absolutely hilarious. I was guffawing with laughter every second.

I wanna more Larry.

If it wasnt for you and LSL I would never have gotten married. LOL Can't wait for your next game.
Maarten Van Zoeren, Simla, Colorado, USA
Al, I loved all the the LSL games and it pisses me off that those bastards at Sierra fired you. You are my favourite game designer (in fact you are the only game designer that I know of by name)and you designed the first ever computer game that I ever played. For that I thank you. I wish that one day Leisure Suit Larry 8 does come out because I have been waiting for this game for so long now. Al best of luck
Dan, Canada
Hi Al! I'm going to tell about your site to every LSL fan I know. It's a site not to be missed.

Its a shame Sierra got so ignorant and money grabbing. All I can say is we want more Larry!!!!

Maybe you and Scott Murphy can bring Larry and Roger into the next Larry game when (not if) it gets made.

Can't wait for your book! =) Funny funny hehe. I just got done reading your LSL book for the second time, you are a really good writer. . serious! Very descriptive and symbolic? heh. I will become a tally when I say this, but sorry about the Sierra thing. . . . and I think this will dent forever. LSL had such a big impact on the world, but I am glad the person behind it is still letting out his creativity in his original ways. =) Oh yeah, I have one quick question =) Me being a big Astrology nut, I was wondering what LSL's astrology chart might be? =) Probably a Cancer *lol* Well I will stop writing so much Im sorry, but again can't wait for your book. Have fun and take care! -Sarah

What could they be thinking? LSL IS Siera, but Al is LSL so without Al, I won't be buying Sierra. This all comes as a shock to m. Bummer.
John, Hayward, CA, USA
Like many others, I also "grew" up with the Larry games. One of the few games I actually bought in store, were all the Larry games. I hate Sierra for what they did. Adventure-games are still fun! Oh well, I guess I'll cybersniff 2000 some more then. =/

Wow! I'm visitor #1! I'm so honored!! Great site, Al! Laughed myself silly (which considering the current events at Sierra, is a major accomplishment)! We miss you! Looking forward to your book! Congratulations!
To Neil, and anyone else wanting to buy LSL7 - it's still available in Sierra's online store; check out www.sierra.com/store/ quicksheet?SKU=8332010200. If you have comments about Sierra's website or online stores, I'd love to hear them!

Yes, your games have got as far as us. You have no idea how disappointed I was when I heard the bad news. However I have an idea. How much do you think it will take to buy the rights for LSL from Havas? If we all chip in, we could possibly raise the amount and AL is free to make more LSL games! Alright, perhaps a bit pie in the sky, but hey, why not give it a try? In addition, I have got LSL 1-6, but 7 never made it to the shelves over here. Can ANYONE tell me where to get one at all? Or has anyone (including you, Al) got a copy I can borrow/have/buy - whatever?

This is a great site and it is good that you cleared up all the controversy about LSL 4. It is sad what happened, especially when you had so many plans for LSL 8. Great site and good luck. Hopefully we will se Larry Laugher again, after all, there are many people who would like to take him on another adventure. Thanks again for those 16 great years of gaming. KKNAI

I love the Leisure Suit Larry page. I want to thank you for creating such a excellent series that became a big part of my life. I never laugh. Not at anything other people think is funny. You made me laugh. That is something a normal person cannot do. You are an extraordinary author. Most other authors never could make me laugh. Except Scott Murphy, Josh Mandel, and last but not least, Mark Crowe. You did nothing to deserve your series going down the drain. It should be going eternal.

I just want to say thank you! for your Larry games (and to all the other people who helped you in the making). I remember when I was staying in my cousins’ house one summer and played Larry1 on an Atari. I was just a kid then and we had trouble answering all the "big folks answers" and non of us could read english very good (nowadays I can at least read it :-) ). Then when we at last answered enough questions to play the game, I was amazed by the graphic and atmosphere of the game. We kept playing many long hours until their Father told us to stop playing and go outside and play football in the nice weather - we did go outside for a short while but went inside again and started answering "all big folk" questions… Keep up the good work Al whatever you do! Very nifty site, mate! I had a fun time looking around. Good job; you get the official "Herk's Thumbs Up"=) Sorry about the whole Sierra deal; while Freddy Pharkas and Larry Laffer might be dead to "Sierra", they'll never be dead in the hearts of their fans. Good luck with whatever you do.

Hey Al great site! Larry lives on forever in all of us. Too bad Sierra's trying to dig his grave. But we will never let Larry die. I'm thinking of giving a call to them and telling them I will never buy another piece of software from them. But we will never let Larry die. Hey, read our e-mail we sent ya. Thanx and good luck :)

Comments Looking forward to the book!! Man I started playing Larry with the original LSL1 back when I was way too young (about 11 I think) and I've follwed him and sierra ever since. Now I jsut look forward to all your future endevours. Know you have a loyal follower in me.
Jokir, Langley, BC, Canada
There has been a huge dry spell in good adventure gaming. Grim Fandango is the only thing that comes close to a good adventure game that you used to make with sierra. I am highly dissapointed in what wouldve been the best Leisure Suit Larry game with the fact that production was stopped. I hope that you can join another company and make another memorable set of games , but nothing will compare to your classic Leisure Suit Larry series.
Thanks
Warren Lamb
Hi mr. Al
I´ve just found your web and I couldn´t resist to send you an e-mail.
I just wanted you to know that I love Leisure suit Larry and I hope you will find a way to create a new game with our favourite starring. I know it´s hard for you but just think in the thousands of people that would kill for a new chapter of this saga.
And nothing else, well just a thing, please excuse my bad English, but I´m from Spain and it´s difficult to me to express myself in a foreign language.

The adventures of King Graham, Roger Wilco, Larry Laffer, and Officer Sonny Bonds, to name a few, must not come to an end. These are the games that I grew up with, and to take those away from me would cause alot of suffering for a person like me. I have been looking forward to Leisure Suit Larry 8, King’s Quest 9, Space Quest 7, and a new Police Quest for some time now, and now I know that these games may never exist. If Sierra will not make these games, they should at least give the rights to another company (such as LucasArts, for example) so someone else can make these games. Sierra may not think these games are very popular, but I for one know that there ar plenty of fans of these games.

Even here far away in Finland people really enjoy playing Sierra adventure games. I couldn’t think of a day when there would be no more Larry or Kingdom of Daventry or Roger Wilco or. . . Please don’t kill these games. It’s not fun to only be able play shoot and kill games, there are people out here who wants a little bit more out of a game than just monsters popping up in front of you all the time!!!! Save Larry!!!!!

The hard work of so many; the decades spent on defining characters, countless hours writing, testing, fixing, and selling the best damn games imaginable. All that wasted by some tight ass prick! I own the COMPELETE collection of Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, Kings Quest, and Police Quest. It should be the people who decide Sierra-On-Line’s fate.
It upset me greatly when I found out what happened at Sierra. Those games, the Sierra games were models of perfection. I urge you to take action. Dont just stop at the e-mails, send hand-written letters, photos of yourself playing the games, do whatever you can to bring back the Sierra we know and love. The same Sierra who inspired me to write an AGI game that now lays incompelete after hearing the news. I will do everything in my power to save Sierra. The end of an era is approaching; the end of our most beloved games. We can change that by taking action. Flood the e-mail systems of sierra, from the janitor to the CEO. It is the only way that we as a people can save something that we hold dear.
Why Sierra Why?
Kevin Sawyer -- Friday, 1 October 1999, at 1:58 a. m.
It started when I was in the third grade. My dad used to take me to his work once in a while. When I got there I met some of his coworkers who bought Sierra games and put them on the company computers. They used to let me play them even though it was hard (I only had a couple years of spelling and vocabulary education) I enjoyed moving such characters as Larry, Roger, Grahm and Officer Sonny Bonds. When I died in the game I got a jolt of fear. ”oh no. ” I would cry as I watched my character die. Later we got our own computer at home (now I was in the seventh grade). We immediately bought games old and new like there was no tomorrow, Space Quest 5 today Space Quest 2 for ten bucks tomorrow. I was introduced to the best characters I ever seen they were better than the other computer companies and they were some of my role models. Gabriel Knight exploring a voodoo cult, Freddy Pharkas becoming a wild west hero, Detective John Carey trying to stop a serial killer. The best storeylines ever (I couldn’t sleep till they were all over and I got to the end). Now I’m 19 and here am finding a copy of Leisure Suit Larry 7 for $12. 99 and buying it and can’t wait till it arrives at my door. Now Sierra don’t crush yourselves to early you have fans that want more Space Quests, more Kings Quests, More Police Quests, More Gabriel, Woodruff, Freddie and my favorite Larry. Say it isn’t so, Say it isn’t so! I love you Sierra and I don’t stand alone.
Your biggest fan
Kevin Sawyer.
Don't give up on Larry!

Larry has had enough difficulties in his life without having to worry about dying. . . ’cause that’s what you’d be doing! Larry can only live if Sierra let’s him. Don’t let him die!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHAT THE?!?!
Hornicus -- Wednesday, 29 September 1999, at 11:33 p. m.
Oh, jeez! I just found out about this! How terrible. Sierra, you’re going DOWN! How do I know?
1) The shoot-em-ups are just a trend, and are on their way out; strategys are the wave of the future and I don’t think you’re ready to compete in that market.
2) Nobody gives a flying honk about bullriding
3) The names on this petition (and the 42 billion others I’ve seen) are piling up DEMANDING adventure games. You’re a business, you won’t listen, and thus you’ll lose business.
I hope you listen, because otherwise you’re going to go bankrupt or something (or someone will bomb your building, hehe).
Best-case scenario: you’ll become strictly home & garden software.
Not the way it's supposed to end.
Michael Poccia -- Wednesday, 29 September 1999, at 8:42 p. m.
There was a time not to long ago, when there was one decision in my local computer software store that was very easy to make, “Oh look! Sierra put out something new. It’s has to be good. ” I was able to trust the quality of the game based on the company. Sierra has a long history of putting out quality games with infinite replay value (even if it has the same path to the end). Not many adventure games can boast that.
It is definitely a sad sad day in computer gaming history.

Shutting Down any division of Sierra is disturbing, I have every adventure game starting from Willy Beamish to Police Quest, Space Quest, Kings Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Gabrial Knight, and many other games. If games like this are not made, who is there left to support? The fall of Sierra will be one of the greatest tragedies that has ever happened! To hell with the fall of the Roman Empire!! The colapse of Sierra will be a great loss, all because of a power hungry, money mongering fool, what makes a company money? The support of customers! if Sierra permanently shuts down any division, I for one will burn every Sierra/Dynamix game I own in revolt! Dont close down the greatest company in the software industry! LET SIERRA LIVE!
This is a mistake!
Cristina -- Wednesday, 22 September 1999, at 10:26 p. m.
It would be a big mistake to cancel the type of games that got this company started. Sierra is synonomous with adventure games, and they are the best! I have been a loyal customer, these are the only type of games that I play and would only be to happy to buy more. Adventure games have a foundation of strong customer support and brand loyalty that fighting games simply do not. So the answer in my opinion would not be to make less but rather more adventure games.
Adventure Games, Leisure Suit Larry
ryan ronan -- Wednesday, 22 September 1999, at 7:02 p. m.
Please save Larry Laffer! You made a lot of money because of him, Al Lowe, and the rest of the crew. Al Lowe wants to make an LSL sequel, why don’t you? You will make more money and satisfy customers/fans! If you make an LSL8 (or whatever sequel# Al wants to do!) I will buy a copy for me, a copy for my cousin, and I know at least 6 people (outside this message board) that will buy a copy of it. Then there are these 600 some people on this message board and people that don’t even have the internet that would buy it also.
God Help Us All
Ryan -- Wednesday, 22 September 1999, at 4:36 p. m.
I’m 14 and it has been my lifelong dream to work at Sierra and help create Space Quest, or King’s Quest, or LS Larry. But now it’s all gone. Screw my programming classes now. My dreams have been shattered. May god send down a miracle to us and save Sierra.
Sierra's latest mistake
LeisSuit -- Wednesday, 22 September 1999, at 11:50 a. m.
Y’know, the title of this board should be “Boycott Sierra, ” instead of “Save Sierra. ” Just this week, they did it again. They closed more games down, fired more employees, and alienated more customers. Sierra owns all the rights to our favorite games that have been cancelled, games like: Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, Shivers, Phantasmagoria, Freddy Pharkas, King’s Quest (the REAL ones, not MoE), and many, many more. If they had no further interest in continuing these titles, why would they still retain the copyrights? Because they want to yank our chains! They are a heartless, mindless, soulless corporation that is so out of touch with their customers that it would take a year of PR just to BEGIN to undo the damage they’ve done. . . to THEIR OWN COMPANY!
The latest layoffs concern development of their Babylon 5 and Tolkien-based games. In the time since the original layoffs happened, they’ve had 2 successes at Sierra: Half-Life and Starsiege. Not a great track record for a company, is it? I say, oust Dave Grenewetzki from the halls of Sierra, re-instate Ken Williams, and get back on track.
Sincerely,
LeisSuit. . . a FORMER Sierra consumer.

JASON WESTERHOF -- Tuesday, 21 September 1999, at 5:56 a. m.
Sierra games have always been my favourites. I have played almost every one and started with the Black Cauldron, Space Quest 2, Larry 1 And Police Quest 1. The only time I have ever upgraded computers is when I cant play the latest Sierra games. I enjoy them for the challenge, and the brain power it takes to finish them. I cant believe adventure games will not be made any more. They are proberly not popular with the new generation, because of marketing. How many sierra games have you seen on sony or nintendo? Police quest went shit after 4 because of changing the format, dont keep doing it.
Love to all at sierra. I thought you would always be better than lucasarts. Monkey island finnaly won.
Long Live Larry!!!
Joe Zavalia II -- Sunday, 19 September 1999, at 6:16 p. m.
I can’t believe that Sierra is going to stop making adventure games like Kings Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry, just to make shooter games! This is unbelieveable, unacceptable, and uncomprehendible!!!!!!! I grew up to these games, and it’s obvious that those adventure games were the kinds that started Sierra, and kept it successful. And now they’re planning to abadon these wonderful games, for games that don’t require any inteligence at all where all you need is hand eye coordination????!!!! This is maddening!!!! I’m going to boycott all sierra products untill those damn corporate @$$holes start to listen to us the consumers!! I hope that our efforts in makeing this pettition are not in vaine, and that we Will be heard!!!

LSL - Let him live!
Linda -- Friday, 17 September 1999, at 9:57 p. m.
Most of the games out there are so childish and boring. . . at least for the adults. I was so looking forward to the next LSL being released! Now, you’ve killed him. If you dopes don’t have the foresight to see what pleasure this series has given to those who want something “different” than the usual shoot-em-ups and alien attacks, then please release the rights to Al Lowe! After all, what harm can he do? You, yourselves don’t think this series is worth anything. I dare ya!
Let Sierra make differnt kinds of games
C. J. Chew -- Thursday, 16 September 1999, at 11:27 a. m.
I just brought a new computer (my first one) recently, and the first thing I brought was many of the old Sierra’s games that I remember playing on my brother’s computer over the years. I am very unhappy that Sierra just want to go to fighting games! I believe that Sierra is just like an amusement park. You must have different types of rides to keep all of your customers happy, and comming back for more! Just as people go to the amusement park for mainly roller coster rides, the shooting games may be the meat & potatoes of the gaming industry, but most people still like to visit the Merry-Go-Round, The haunted house, and ride the train around the park. Please let Sierra make differnt type of games, so that people can have a break from shoot them up! If Sierra only has one type of game, you can bet that the other companies will get a lot of Sierra’s old business, because they have variety!
Cutting your own throat?
Mark Dineen -- Wednesday, 15 September 1999, at 11:16 a. m.
Although I can’t say that I have always been a die-hard Sierra adventurer, I certainly can tell you that I have spent countless days conquerring the entire LSL suite (as well as the old Police Quests, King’s Quests, Space Quests) and I think that it is likely not a wise move to put all of your eggs in one basket. I know that the shooters are where the money is today, but like the phone companies, what counts at least as much as the gross dollars is the number of loyal customers under your wing. I had a guy from Bell Canada spend an $8 hour on the phone with me telling me why he wants my $5/month long distance business!
Word to the wise: Taking a small hit to get the most customers and keep them happy is better than shredding a division of your company to save money today. Those customers you are pissing off will never buy any edition of half-life!

THE TIME FOR TALK IS OVER
Andrew Finlay -- Monday, 13 September 1999, at 7:37 a. m.
Well, all these 600 odd messages have been promply ignored. If everyone here was willing to buy sierra games, thats $60, 000 from us alone, there must be millionms more. But with the recent success of half life sierra is ignoring the little thing that MADE them. I rememebr playing LSL1 when I was 8 (shuudup) and not quite understanding it but having fun anyways (I remember asking the taxi driver to take me to the zoo. . ahh memories) Im trying to find all 6 larry games to play. Anyway my point is, there are 600 die hard larry fans out there, Al Lowe is out there somewhere. . . hopefully, and frankly FUCK sierra, we dont need em, Ill be willing to make the first publicly made game for sale, give it the same feel, the same humor and the same EVERYthing from larry, cept all we gotta do is change the name. . Sure its cutting out his history but Sierra will sue us otherwise. This could be a huge game if everyone worked on it. If you know programming, Art, Humor, Ideas, Anything E-MAIL me and we’ll make this happen!!! I’ve got a few ideas on this and im sure you guys (having played em for years) would too, so please E-mail me with any ideas!!

Ashley -- Monday, 13 September 1999, at 7:00 a. m.
To Whom it may concern,
I cannot believe that such a company like yours could be turning its back on the people who made it such a great company. I find it inconceivable that you would just cancel a sequel to a game the has stood the tests of time (LSL8). I have been playing sierra games for 15 odd years and in that time I have enjoyed every single game I have played of yours. If I was in your position I would quickly reconsider my decision to commit corperate suicide. If I did it in my business I would be laughed out of the industry. Please reconsider for all fans of LSL, Police Quest, Kings Quest and the like.
Sierra's Going Down!
CD Spencer -- Sunday, 12 September 1999, at 4:35 a. m.
OK, everybody, listen up. If Sierra’s going to kill off all of our adventure games, then we’re going to have to kill Sierra. Or at least weaken them to the point where they realize the adventure game was the best thing going for them. Don’t get me wrong, I love Sierra adventure games. I own every single game (or just about), especially the series such as Police Quest (all the way through SWAT 2 even though the good ones are the ones with Sonny Bonds), Quest for Glory, King’s Quest, and of course Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry. So only one possible solution remains. . . boycott Sierra. Don’t buy any other games and encourage other people to do the same. Except, of course, for Gabriel Knight 3, their only current adventure game in the works. We must convince Sierra that without the adventure game they will die. Up with the adventure game or down with Sierra!
Dont let the games die!

The sierra adventure games were the only games I ever really bought and played!!!!!!!!!!! Why are you shutting them down. The began your company, and now your destroying them!!!!!!!!!!! King quest, LSL. Don’t do this to the us, or your employees. YOU’VE GOT TO BRING THEM BACK!!

CELL TO REALIZE THAT YOU ARE GOING TO CRUSH THE AMERICAN DREAM WITH SIERRA AS WELL!
Your adventure games is what made all of your money, and now that you have 3 piece suits, and money just falling from your
damn ass, you trash adventure games like a bad habit. THESE AREN'T JUST GAMES, THEIR PEOPLE TOO. YOUR
HURTING LOTS OF PEOPLE, THEY WANT TO ENTERTAIN US! urrrraagghhhh, man, this is the most annoying and
stupid thing I have ever heard. GET A NEW MANAGER, OWNER WHATEVER THE HELL YOU WANT, JUST GET
SOMEONE SMART ENOUGH TO REALIZE THAT ADVENTURE GAMES ARE A PART OF LIFE!

NOOOOOOOOOO!
Andrew Bugera -- Saturday, 4 September 1999, at 11:50 a. m.
We can’t let Sierra stop making adventure games. The adventure ones are the only computer games that I find worthwhile to play. The puzzle make you (gasp!) think!
I don’t have any interest in a game where you walk around shooting people. I will no longer have any use for any Sierra product if there are no adventure games.
Please don’t let SQ7 and all the other high-quality adventure games die.
Save the adventure games!!!
Rio DeLatorie -- Saturday, 4 September 1999, at 1:40 a. m.
First of all, let my just say that I have loved Sierra’s products for as long as I can remember. When I was growing up, instead of going outside and playing games with other kids, I would stay inside and play Sierra’s adventure games. With friends like Princess Rosella and Roger Wilco, who else did I need? =) I have played ever adventure game that Sierra has published that I can manage to run on my 486, and I am purchasing a new computer so that I can play the newer games, such as Phantasmagoria and Gabriel Knight 2.
With that said, I want to say that I was absoultley heartbroken when I read the disturbing news that Sierra was closing down their adventure game devision. I cried I was so upset. It was like. . . someone had just shot a good friend. The prospect of new adventure games was like a link to my childhood that I had always assumed would continue for a long time to come. But now it is broken.
I beg of anyone with some power to change things to BRING BACK ADVENTURE GAMES! I know there are many others who feel the same way that I do about this topic. Please. Allow the next generation’s children to experience the same pleasures that I was graced enough to recive.
With all due respect,
~Rionoj DeLatorie~
Where did the games go?
Calvin -- Friday, 3 September 1999, at 11:11 a. m.
Sierra gone? Whose games will we play? Where will we find the games that could live up to the ones that were previously published only by Sierra? With the demise of series such as King’s Quest, Space Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry how can we find adequite substitute? Sure the company itself will go on but without these series that have been there since the beginning; what’s the point? Sierra won’t gain anything from this. They’ll only lose. They’ll have lost they’re games that brought people to sierra in the first place and loyal fans of those games. But most importantly they’ll lose they’re heart and soul in losing those games.

Hi, found your site. Probably don’t have to mention that I’m a big Larry fan. Still remember back in the ‘80ies when I first played Larry (1) on an IBM-PC. Larry is more than a game, it’s a culture! He did everything no other could on a computer. “Thanks” to Larry I also became a big fan of other Sierra games, like KQ, SQ, etc.
“Sierra owns Larry”??? Hah! Nobody owns Larry (except maybe you). Sierra is so naive. Larry does as he likes, and he LIKES. . . :)) No, Larry will never die. Even if those jungsters on Sierra’s board thinks the world doesn’t need another Larry game.
Btw, as you can see Larry lives very well in my company’s name. Tricky question: from which Larry game do you think our made computer brand “Eunux” got it’s name? Hint: something about an operating system. . .
Have fun and keep up the good work!
PS. “Gammy” (our server), “Patti”, “Sophia”, “Eve” and “Isabella” (workstations) sends their regards.
PPS. I hope “Gammy” spelled her name right, I’ve seen different spellings on the Net.

While browsing through the web, I came across your website, and couldn't resist sending you my comments. Anyhow, I haven't played all the "larry" games, but from those I have played and beaten (1, 5, 6, 7) which I must commend you for. Other than cheesy strip poker games, no one else attempts to add sexual humor into their game. I have also played and w/ some help beaten Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist. - The lighthouse demo, makes no sense =)
It's been a few years since the larry series, and I'm wondering if you still are working in the game development area, or perhaps you are in a other field. Nevertheless, a Larry 8 would really rock! I am currently a student, but have a strong talent in computer graphics, and am an established writer of human comedy and satire. I know the development of a game isn't released to the public, but I'd like to work on a game like "Larry 7" - I figure, that
the script is the hardest part, and once the graphics are created, coding it isn't too difficult. Perhaps something is in the works, or perhaps Sierra doesn't want to publish the game? I look foward to hearing back from you in the future. Till next time, take care.
Drew
I have to tell you the first game I ever played was Leisure Suit Larry 1 on my old Tandy. You started me on computer games and I’ve never been the same since. Although I didn’t know what to do in the game (I was very young when I first played it, and my Mom knew I wouldn’t get anywheres but it still struck a chord with me) A few years ago (I think it was ‘96) I got LSL 1-7 on Christmas Day. I’ve since played all those through numerous times. I’ve also have Torin’s Passage which I loved and now I have my little cousin play it (he loves it too). I’ve tried to get my hands on Freddy Pharkis Frontier Pharmacist but it’s hard to find. Anyways, I was wondering if you were ever to go back into the gaming business. You could start a new company with some of the employees that Sierra let go (just a suggestion) and I’d bet you’d be able to bring back the adventure genre stronger than ever. Well, I hope you know how much of an impact you’ve made on me and my life. Thanks again.
Blake Lagasse, loyal fan
P. S. - I hope Sierra allows you to make another LSL game and I’ll be waiting for your book. :)
It is really terrible to see LSL8 not coming. I was thinking that Sierra had a good way of thinking. How could they kill Leisure suit Larry? It is terrible. But if they won't make LSL games, I won't buy the games of them. And I am sure there are lots of Larry fans that are not liking it that LSL8 is cancelled. I would pay a 100 dollars for the game, if it would be for sale. And it is not Sierra that is a little bit of dumb, it is the person who made and signed the letters that said that a lot of Sierra's top games would be cancelled.
So: "SIERRA! TAKE AL LOWE BACK AND MAKE A LSL 8!!!!!!!!!!!!
Timothy Langstraat

Al Lowe, I love your work and I personally find you to be the most hilarious person on the face of this Earth (in the sense of what you write, that is). And by the way: You need to get a job with Electronic Arts & convince them to use a small quantity of there billions of dollars to buy the rights to Leisure Suit Larry from Sierra On-Line, Inc. so you can be back on the job making Leisur Suit Larry 8: Lust In Space!!! I simply cannot live without any more antics from Larry Laffer!! PLEASE AL! GIVE IT A SHOT FOR YOUR BIGGEST FAN!
Thanks for reading my message and I would appreciate a response,

To Whom This May Concern:
I really didn’t intend to write a letter to Sierra concerning the cancellation of Leisure Suit Larry 8, but, now, I really don’t see how I couldn’t. I understand that you probably get tired of reading these letters, asking you to revive the series, but I need to add my voice to the clamor. See, Larry isn’t just some generic game to me, not some frivolous little whim I embarked on. Larry and his wonderfully humorous mishaps make my life a little bit better each time I play them.
In 1996, I suffered from a series of seizures, and underwent brain surgery. The immediate result was complete memory loss. I didn’t know who I was, where I was from, couldn’t even remember my family in the first days following surgery. (my sister, for some unknown reason, I thought was a nurse!) What made this even more ironic was the fact that I had just published my first book, a collection of poetry entitled “A Bowl of Cherries: Just Spit the Pits”. . . which I also forgot about.
Anyway, after a month or so, I returned to my apartment, my cat, and my computer. Now, up to this point, I was not much in the way of a game player. But my doctor suggested games as a diversion, as well as a way to try to exercise my mind and imagination. My first trip to CompUsa resulted in the purchase of 2 Sierra games: Shivers and Leisure Suit Larry 7. At first, they were difficult to solve-an understandable problem, given the damage my brain had sustained. But as I found myself getting deeper into the haunted museum of “Shivers”, and the shipboard antics of “Love For Sail”, I found myself wanting, DESIRING, more progress, more details, more puzzles to solve and characters to meet.
It wasn’t long after that, that I found myself with a real quandary: I had beaten both games, and wanted more. I went back to the store and purchased the Larry Collection and Shivers 2. And, soon after, Larry’s Casino, Phantasmagoria 1 & 2, and the Ultra Pinball Collection. See, your games aren’t just silly little programs to me. Thanks to those games, I have my memory back, to a large extent. I know that it sounds silly, but those games had an impact on my life. I don’t want that to end. I’ve signed the petitions, visited and posted on the message boards, and continue to purchase the products-all in the hope that my contribution makes a difference. I want the next guy coming down the pike to have the same fresh experience I’ve had, laughed at the same puns, jumped at the same scares. I want to see Larry Laffer, Professor Windlenot, Roger Wilco, and King Graham bring joy to others after me. But most of all, I want that feeling I get, the giddy, adventurous feeling to keep on keeping on. I need that in my life. Not as some pimply-faced teenager who wants the high score, but as a 28 year old writer whose mind’s eye is opened wide to the possibilities and magic of a Sierra adventure.
Anyway, sorry to take up so much space. Guess I had a lot to get off my chest. But that’s what Sierra means to me. Your games, screensavers, and other products have given me back something I’d lost: Hope.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. I’ll continue my efforts, same as before, in the hope of seeing Larry get to complete his final adventure. Perhaps I’ll put my writing to good use and try my hand at creating humorous games of my own. I would do just about anything to recapture that wonderfully exhilarating feeling of adventure again, and I know that I’m not alone.
Thanks,
Mark Willman
Hey, Al, I was wondering if there was any hope left for a Leisure Suit Larry 8. I've heard about Grenewetzki, and the layoffs and stuff, is that the real story? Is Grenewetzki truly the evil slayer of Larry? Isn't there anything your faithful fans can do? I'd also like to say that Larry's the funniest thing since dirty jokes, and you dude, you are a GOD.
P. S. if you haven't already seen it, visit catz. interspeed. net, it's a great site about Larry
I'm another one of those heartbroken miserable people who lost their hero (loser) this winter. I'm wondering: isn't their anything you can do to keep Larry alive? Couldn't you and the rest of the Oakhurst crew try to restart the Yosemite division on your own? I mean, you've got the manpower and there's certanly no lack of ideas. But then again I guess you wouldn't be alowed do create another Larry game since the right are hold by Sierra. But what would it cost to pick up the right from Sierra? Pretty much I guess, but if you started of with doing some new games you would probably get enough income to buy the LSL rights? Couldn't you talk with Codemasters and try to convince them about restarting Yosemite? This is probably a pretty wild idea but what the heck? I'm desperate! Larry must not die! We're all hoping for you Al.
I'm desperate (but then again; of course I am, I think Larry is cool)

I read your interview in the German PC magazine GameStar and I just want to say that I´m very sad that larry won´t be continued (my favourite game is larry 6).
Sebastian
After I’ve read the short article in the german GameStar magazine, about your person, I did check out your website. (As you can see, I´m german and also I do understand most english, I do not write the best. ) And I wondered, why Larry should die. Alright adventures are not as popular as they’ve been five years ago and although there are people, who still ask for adventures, they are not enough to successful demand another one.
BUT, roleplaying games are “in” and adventures are very familiar with RPG’s.
So, in which way do they differ from each other?
1. You can either choose between a handful of different characters or you have to take one charakter, but you are allowed to change his attributes.
2. Your character has a variety of abilities, which will be improved during the game.
3. There are many ways to solve a puzzle, and there are many subquests.
4. The world treats you in the way you are acting.
5. In most RPGs the character needs weapons and has to fight.
Now, back to Larry! Why can't you do a Larry RPG?
1. Ok, it will not be Larry, if you would not have to play him. But, in Larry 5 (???) you had to play Passionate Patty sometimes and that was really funny. So, how about choosing Larry with the ability to improve some attributes? I think, hey you will find a whole suitcase full of funny Larrylike attributes, don’t you?
2. That’s the easiest point. Why should Larry only get points as a reward, let him improve his tactics to get the women, he want.
3. As you already told, you have enough ideas to continue Larry’s search. So this should not be the problem.
4. In all Larry adventures, the world is laughing at him, so just let them laugh about the things he have done.
5. That is the worsest point, because Larry is not the man who uses weapons. (In this point he is like Indiana Jones, who would not use weapons just for fun, but Lucasarts did not see that, so they turned Indy 5 into a TombRaider-like game. Oops, sorry, but that is my opinion. ) So what to do now, is it possible to drop this part without loosing the RPG status? Or is there another possibility? Monkey Island used a speech based combat (although Monkey Island is an adventure, it’s another kind of combat), in Larries casino, you could tell jokes to gain money. I mean there must be a Larry way to solve this problem. There are enough men out in the world who steal Larry the show, so he must find some tricky ways to kick them out of the race. Could this be the combat part in a Larry RPG?
Back to the general points.
a. Ok, I know, that you do not own the rights of Larry, Sierra does. But, RPG’s are in, Larry is in, so what could Sierra have against this?
b. You already worked on Larry 8, and you might be disappointed about what Sierra had done to you and your work. But, do not let Larry die, find another way for him to survive. Show Sierra that they are wrong in killing him.
c. Larry is an “adventure” hero and always will be. But, RPG’s are another kind of adventure, why don’t you use that possibilieties for more fun, more Larry?
Thanks for reading this stuff, I did not want to insult you in any way. - Maybe you would have done another Larry, if there would have been a chance. - And maybe the difference between RPG and adventure is much more, than I might think of.
But that idea came in my mind and I just wanted to tell you. Because I like Larry (and most other Sierra adventures (including Freddy Pharkas) and I would like Larry Laffer (and Roger Wilco) to continue their adventures. Those games can catch you more than those 3D-shooters, or realtime-strategies. [I did like Fallout 2 much more than Baldur’s Gate because of it’s story and I really hated those realtime combat. ]
Take care and be safe
Yours,
Timo
I Love Larry Laffer games and I’m very upset that Sierra cancelled Larry 8!!! I hope you can find a way to finish it. there is one thing I don’t understand why has every new game got to be 3-D I didn’t play the last game in the kings quest serie, I played them all but the last one was 3-D Why can’t they be like larry 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7 or kings quest 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 or space quest 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 These games were really good all of them. So I don’t understand why they are changing the concept. Nowadays we have enough of that 3-d shit, I just like to play an old fashioned adventure style game. I hope to see Larry 8 being released. good luck

You should know that I grew up on this game, when I was 7 my brother brought home a copy of "Leisure Suit Larry 1" and I was hooked ever since. My name is Rob Cahill and I am a fan of your Leisure Suit Larry games, as I know millions others are. I have bought every Leisure Suit Larry game and I am sad to see you being laid off. I think you are a genius. Sierra letting you go was a mistake. I loved your work in the Leisure Suit Larry games. I have played other games from Sierra but I won’t buy games or anything from Sierra. I don’t like that they let you go.
I have a friend who also thinks the same way I do. (She said not to give her email address, but she feels the same way about you as me. ) It took me a while to get the courage to send you this email Robin wants to email you but she didn’t have the heart too. any way, just so you know, I went to your web page, I was going to sign a guest book but I didn’t find one. But before I go, I want to say one last time: you’re a brillant and very funny man.
Your friend,
Rob
Do you think you will ever do another adventure game some time again? To be quite honest I found the games you led where all good and damn funny and it would be a shame not to have your talent around anymore. I will always be a fan/admirir of your work that you have done and maybe will do again sometime. Take care,
Mark. H
In 1989 my brother and I purchased our first adventure game LSL1. It took us 3 months to play and a few telephone calls to the USA for hints. We were instantly hooked on Larry and his hilarious adventures. It's a shame that Sierra are going with the flow of 3D adventure/games. There are many people in England who still prefer the old point and click adventure game even like larry, space quest and some of the lucas arts games. Bring back Larry 8

I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciated your work with Sierra and all the games you put out. (No pun intended. ) I loved Torin’s Passage and all of your early Disney games, like the Whinnie the Pooh one and the Donald Duck Playground game. I used to play those games ALL the time when I was 5 and loved every second of them. I can still remember playing Mickey in Space, don’t know if you helped on that one, but the game would get an error once Mickey tried to walk on Mars or some planet. This used to frustrate me to no end, and I must have played it over 100 times, hoping it would change and let me play on. What I’m getting at here, is how much of an influence your work has had on my life. Those three Disney games got me hooked on computer games and have influenced me to want to be a computer programmer when I grow up. BTW, is there anyway to get any of those Disney games anymore? I know it’s a long shot, but Id love to play them again. I always planned to work at Sierra, and make a Kings Quest 12 or a Leisure Suit Larry 20, as you would probably have left out some more numbers, but that dream of mine will probably not happen. I am rooting for GK3 to be a HUGE hit, and a HUGE seller, as Sierra would probably, cross your fingers, pick back up LSL8 and the most talented designer out there, Al Lowe of course. But, my main point of all this, is to thank you for all of your work on these games, and to ask you about a game I remember from Interaction called Capitol Punishment that you were making. Why wasn’t it ever released, and do you still have a demo or copy of the game you could release on you site, which I love, for all of your devoted fans to see and experience? Even some screenshots or info on the game would be awesome, as I have become particularly curious about this game recently. Keep up the good work, and I hope, one day, that that crazy Larry Laffer will grace my computer monitor once again.
A devoted and grateful fan,
Brian Kazian
My name is Gian Ghodrat, as you might have noticed due to my funny @-adress I am a Student living in Austria.
I´ve been a great fan of your work almost from the beginning (yes I did complete every single Larry Game ever released!) and just wanted to tell you that I am very sorry that you and many of your Colleges have been kicked out of Sierra. I just want you to know that there are still lots of people out there who do appreciate a game of quality (with quality I mean a game that serves as a brain boiler as well as a laughter bag) as you used to create.
Yours, still hoping for Larry 8 to come. . .
Gian
Why is it that Sierra doesn't want to make LSL8? Are there too little Larry Fans? Is it so that nowadays people only want to play shoot-them-up games. I think this isn't right. Larry is a hero! A hero you created All. And if there never will come a Larry 8: thank you for all the joy I had playing Larry games since the very first monochrome Larry. Typing your own sentences and finding a way to get laid! A crazy idea for a computergame, but incredibly original, fun and successful. And I think It still will!
I've seen the LSL 8 test 3-D super movie and my opinion is that if could make a adventure like this, with the humor of all the previous LSL's, it would be a bomb! It would rule, it would become a BESTSELLER. But it seems that Sierra thinks differently. Too bad. Making a revelutionary game is probably not what Sierra wants. Ah, well. . . . . .
Anyway, thanks for the games you've made and I hope to (maybe) hear from you sometime.
A Larry fan from The Netherlands,
Niels Aust
Cheers! I thought you might appreciate a funny incident I had playing Larry 1 (ages ago) and fondly remember till now ;-O
I’m originally from Russia and that is where I was introduced to Larry. Russia (then Soviet Union) used to be a very queer country. Personal computers, especially the IBM-compatibles, cost a fortune and were as likely to be found at home as a nuclear reactor in the kitchen. On the other hand, all the software was free as a nuclear explosion. One gets it, everyone around gets it. Not only the programmers eagerly participated in the software exchange - even the company managers used to take floppies to a business conference and to return with the loot. The job description of some of the most talented software engineers included breaking the copy protection. . .
This might make a bit easier to understand why Larry 1, instead of being quietly enjoyed in the privacy of one’s own home, was shared by a group of 5-7 irresponsible programmers crowding around a single monitor during the working hours, with a little or no protest from the boss. Playing in a group was helpful also because, being an adventure game, Larry presented a very special problem. Most Russians do not learn any foreign languages, and even the AGI subset of English normally would be an unspeakable challenge. . . but not for us! our group was lucky to include 2 linguistic experts! One (me) graduated from a so-called “special English” school and could read Agatha Christie almost without a dictionary; the other learned English all by himself from the “Playboy” and supplied the finer expressions, never teached in the Soviet classrooms.
So the communication with Larry was practically seamless - until the liquor store. . . The word “lubber” didn’t ring a bell! Of course, it couldn’t stop us from buying the mysterious object. As the clerk started to ask more and more questions, the confusion grew, the nature of our purchase being less and less clear. “Peppermint or spearmint” suggested something edible; “colored or plain” seemed more like clothes but could refer to almost anything. . . The final straw was the crowd yelling “Pervert!” which felt completely unappropriate and even offensive.
Anyway, the strange item finally appeared in the inventory and now we could have a good look at it. Alas, it didn’t help at all! The AGI chopped graphics didn’t allow for any identifiable details, except that “it” looked round. . . The guessing continued. The non-encouraging response to “eat lubber” and “drink lubber” proved the food hypothesis wrong. “Wear lubber” - “Now???” hinted that it might be indeed an article of clothing, but unsuitable for the outdoors or the weather ? a winter hat ? Someone suggested it is a ring. . . And suddenly I had a moment of a brilliant insight! and, still unsure, volunteered “hey, I think I know WHAT IS THAT” and giggled. . this was an only case of an instant telepathy that I’ve ever witnessed - in a few seconds everyone was enlightened and rolling on the floor laughing!
This was one of the funniest moments I've had playing an adventure game.
P. S. now, living in a little more civilized country, I’m a great enthusiast of buying games, and even own most of the games I’ve enjoyed as the pirated versions. The jewel of my collection is the “Larry collector’s” CD. If the world will ever see Larry 8 or a similar title from Larry’s dad, you can count on my $50 and my undying gratitude :-)
Best regards,
Helen Zommer
Hello! I’m a guy from Switzerland that really enjoyed the Larry games and I played all of ‘em (except part 4, ha, ha). Anyway, I just read an Interview with you in german PC mag “GameStar”, and I hear you havent gave up Larry 8 yet. I would really, really like to see good ol’ Larry in another adventure, so I just wanted to give you my support and best wishes that you find a replacement for Sierra soon. Its really sad to see such a great company go under. . Thanks for all the great games, and I’m looking forward to more!
Goodbye,
Adrian
I don’t know if you’ll remember me, but my name is Karl Kuras and I had one of your co-workers get you to sign a Torin’s Passage flyer for me, back around Christmas of 1996 (I may be off on the year) At the time you were working on Larry 7, and I was working at an Electronics Boutique in Seattle. I’m currently a student at the University of Florida, have that flyer framed over my computer, and am preparing to go into law school (my covert way of getting into the game business without having to learn to program) =-)
I just wanted to thank you for all the great games you have made (I still have me original Black Cauldron, Donald Duck’s Playground and Larry games) and tell you how dissapointed I am in the way Sierra has been dealt with.
I am currently constructing a web site dedicated to Larry (http://www. ccgnv. net/Trantor/LSL1. htm ) which is just in beta right now. Guess I just had to write a few lines in thanks when I found your site. Best wishes,
Karl Kuras
My almost 15 year old son (an emergent programmer) confided he first encountered Larry when he was 5 or 6 years old. His younger buddy loaded “Daddy’s game” and the two boys howled with laughter while “Laser Suit Larry” fell out a window and was beaten up and when he was drowned by an over-flowing toilet. With their beginner reading skills, adult jokes and innuendo eluded them. The Batman/Superhero fans spent a fun filled afternoon with Larry. I think you succeeded in creating a multi-age game in the Larry series.
I continue to enjoy your humor site. . .
Rose
I’m a great Fan of your Larry-Games and I’m sure waiting for Larry 8. Some months ago I got an idea: We create a signature-list in which we require the Larry 8-Game. I don’t know how big the market for Adventure-Games is in the USA, but in Germany run Adv-Games not bad. On Spieletips. de - a german Games-Mag - we can place the signature-list, so we can reach over 3000 people a day and addionional 11000 with the Newsletter from Spieletips. de. I think that I can find other pages, so that we reach over 10000 people a day.
I have talked with the PR-Deparment of Havas Interactive Germany, they would reach the list to Sierra an give back a statement. But I think you have in this regard better contacts.
I look forward already to your opinion to this idea!
Bye,
Thorsten Rühl
I just thought about sending you a message saying how I like the Larry game (my favorites are 7, 6 and 1 VGA). If LSL8 is ever to be released, I'll buy it FOR SURE. The same goes for any Larry game. In a perfect world, there would be a Larry 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14. . . I don't think it's a problem when a sequel is not as good as the original, you can still make another sequel that will actually be the best of all times!
I really do not think that the LSL series isn't profitable like Sierra. How else would you explain that people here in Brazil buy the Larry games, even though the games come to my country costing 100% more than in the USA (I'm not kidding, it's true, that's why I only buy 1 game per year, sometimes and can't buy a game even in more than a year).
Anyway, thanks again for creating hours of fun.
I do have one question. I have the legal version of LSL5, but I do not understand why there codes for places like Hazardville or Fish Camp. These codes really aren't necessary OR usefull. . . are they?
Well, that's all for now. Bye!
DJ
P. S. : with the success of all those adult oriented animated series like Simpsons, South Park or King of the Hill, I really think Larry could work out in an animated series. Just a thought.
Hey Al, I thought, I’d share this little incident my wife experienced with our 2 month old daughter Kirin:
<snip>
I have to tell you what happened this morning. I got up and switched on the computer, but then Kirin started fussing, so I was walking around with her rocking her until she fell asleep. Then I was in the kitchen making myself a drink, and I heard this voice coming from around the corner in the hallway. It says very clearly, “Mohmmy! Come here! I’m done!” I thought some freak snuck in through the garage door or something. My heart is racing and I’m standing there trying to figure out what the hell is going on. Then I realize why the voice sounds familiar. It was Larry. It took about 10 minutes for my heart to quit racing from the adrenaline of thinking someone had broken into the house and had the nerve to call me Mommy!
<snap>
I knew it would be worth downloading “Larry Pops Up!” 8) What a nice late Halloween gift. Thanks alot, Al!
Best wishes from us and I keep my fingers crossed for a Larry 8. And just so you know: I started exploring and composing (Smooth) Jazz because of your game music in Larry 3. Don’t expect any royalties yet. 8) And if there’s ever a CD of Larry Music, I’ll be the first one to buy it! Keep up the good work,
Guido
Firstly, I know you must get thousands of emails a day, and I don’t expect a reply, but would love one if you have the time. I just really want you to read this.
I just wanted to let you know, how much I loved the LSL/Sierra series. They were just. . . amazing. I first started with the older EGA ones, like LSL1, SQ1, etc. I could not believe the detail in the graphics, and realisticness the games had!
But the one thing that really made Sierra games different, was just the feeling they created within you. You really felt like the main character. And with the newer ones (LSL5, KQ5), it was a totally amazing feeling.
I am very sad to hear that Sierra has stopped making Adventure games, and so there will be no more LSLs. Everytime I got to a Larry website, or play one of the MIDIs, I get a fuzzy feeling all through my body. Especially the MIDIs from LSL5, for some reason. Just hearing them, I will imagine Larry running along the boardwalk on rollerblades, or walking around in the Cafe. It is amazing how a little MIDI from a computer game can make you feel. I have ever only had this feeling with Sierra games. I think they are the only games that could make me shed a tear, they were just so well though out, and planned.
I would just like to personally congratulate you, on all the work you have done, and I sincerely hope you get another chance to design another LSL game.
Geoff
Sydney, Australia.
Hello. I wanted to compliment you on the great site, and also thank you for creating Leisure Suit Larry. It is unfortunate that Larry 8 has been dropped because I look forward to new games with Larry in them. LSL7 is possibly the greatest game ever made! If you can't play that game and laugh your ass off, you got problems. Maybe someday I can sit down and enjoy my copy of LSL 8 on a lazy afternoon. I hope so.
What is with these people in the computer game industry anyway? A good adventure game beats the hell out of 3 million goddamn racing, golf, football, hunting and fighting games!
Thank you very much!
Adam Perry
Hello, My name is Erik Sintorn and I am, and have allways been, a great fan of yours (or rather of your games). I am also a collector of the old adventure games, and AGI games in particular. Theese two games (Donald Ducks Playground and Winnie the Pooh) have been bugging me for quite a while as they are quite impossible to find anywhere (I even mailed Sierra about it, and the guy who answered, whatever his name was, said that sierra had never made any such games). So, when I found your page (and the Al Lowe page on www. sierra. com), and finally got proof that the games even exist, I was delighted. So, yeah you’ve seen this coming fro quite a while now, I thought you might point me somewhere I can find theese games, and possibly give me some info on them (was it a cooperation with Disney. . and so on). Anyway thanks for hours and hours of fun (perhaps too many hours on Lsl2 though, it was hell restarting everytime I realized I had forgotten some object in the beginning), and I hope you don’t give up. I WANT to see larry in 3d some day. Gimme the games and I promise to bomb Sierra with mail about taking you back ;).
Erik Sintorn
Hey Al, just wanted to say that I really love all of your Larry games! I have been playing them since I could type, thanks for all that you have done for the game-world. You are truly one of the greats of our time. Kudos to you.
Josh Quinones
Hey, Al,
I’ve been a Larry fan since about 1989, and I just want to say, I love the game. Remember, all the fans will be willing to help you in a ny way possible to bring Larry back, so USE US!!!
Anyways, I got a question. You put the copy protection for the games on your site. It sounds to me like Sierra was being a bunch of complete jerks to you when they “tied Larry in the basement and left him to die”, so are you trying to screw them over for sales? You deserve much better. I was also wondering, how come you started off with kids games and then went into adult-oriented games? Isn’t that kinda like an oxy-moron? Anyways, I hope you get your just rewards and make a new game. LARRY STILL LIVES. And tell him I said hi.
Your fan,
HAMBONE HABIB (Randy Hofbauer)
P. S. I see the connection of “Alexander’s Ragtime Band” and the Larry theme. ONLY 20 MINUTES? Very impressive!
I read about "Black Monday" a while back, but it seemed to me to be a rumour or a gag (you know how the internet can be sometimes) but was finally left lying in a muddled heap on the floor speechless when it was finally confirmed on your site.
I may have joined the Leisure Suit Larry world a little late in life (I blame my dedication to the Commodore 64) but I caught up quickly. I felt like I knew Larry forever. I've been through everything he's been through. Leisure Suit Larry became my all time favorite adventure series.
So Leisure Suit Larry is. . . . . dead? I can't believe Sierra did this? Sierra used to be a great company, the all time best. Take a look at my collection of CD-ROMS, you'll see a majority of them bare the Sierra lable somewhere. But I don't think I can support a company that kills off one of their most profitable characters and fires the brains behind Sierra's greatest accomplishments. Though I probably, in all honestly, continue to support my other favorite game series "You Don't Know Jack", it's only in loyalty to the game itself and Berkley Systems.
But I'll keep a gleam of hope stored away somewhere that Larry will grace us with his presence in another great adventure, somewhere.
Good luck, Mr. Lowe. Thank you for all the good times, and most of all, for Larry.

What a sad day this is for me. I just heard that LSL 8 has been discontinued! NOOOOoooOOOOOOOO!!!! I had been waiting for its release for the past year. And the game was bound to be first on my christmas list. I love those Larry Games. They freaking rock!~ What the H is Sierra thinking???
I still remember having my dad buying me my first Larry game, because I was actually underage at the time. I was hoping that maybe one day I could go out and buy my son a Larry game, and make it a father-son tradition. Tell me that these crack-smoking Sierra fools will reconsider this horrendous decision. Its like a bunch of Femnazi’s took over or something. Even if Sierra wont, screw them. Take Larry somewhere else. Theres gotta be a ton of companies dying to pick you up. Come on Al, do it for my future father-son tradition! Don’t let Larry die!
In tears,
Brian B
Are you really going to wait and wait for Sierra to greenlight the next Larry? I mean did you ever think of making a different (maybe similar) game with a different (or even own) company? Don’t you own the Larry rights anyway? Ah, you think, one of those crazed Larry fanatics, trying to get me back to work and deadlines and all that crap. . . I’m just wondering ‘bout your future! Reading your opinions on the adventure market, you don’t sound very optimistic. But I guess, I like many others, just hope for a secret master plan of all the old Oakhursters.
I talked to some people and one of them had actually worked as lead programmer on Gabriel Knight, Tom DeSalvo. You probably never met him. As far as I know, you didn’t hung out that long at the water cooler in Seattle yet, right? He probably was working at my current employer already. Anyway, I heard eerie and gruesome horror stories about how it can be, working in the gaming industry and all, but still, I have that old hope, dating back to my teens when I used to play only adventures (No not only Sierra. . . In fact I was a big fan of everything Ron Gilbert. Well, until I saw Larry3 in the highest filth level that is ;) ), that one day I might be working on a game. And now I’m living in the US, origin and place of so many game legends and I’m even conversing with you, Al Egend!. . . how closer could I get?? ’kay that word play was a stinker. . . 8)] Instead of whining that Larry is gone, I’d rather help develop the next. Hey, don’t laugh. Can’t I have my silly dreams? 8)
Guido
Hello! I am a big Larry Fan. I have every Larry adventure, and was shocked to find out I'm not gonna have Larry 8! In 3D! That would've been the Ultimate Larry game! I think Sierra could've held out until after this one! That was very rude of them.
Is there an e-mail address at Sierra where we can request Larry 8 to be made? Maybe if enough people e-mailed them, they would give it up!
Also, I've been hearing rumors of a boycott of Sierra products until production of Larry 8 is resumed. Have you heard anything about it?

Hi, Al. For 2 years now I have been playing LSL and I enjoyed it every time even more (Especially LSL 6 - I haven’t played LSL 7 yet since it didn’t appear in the shops any more by the time I learned to know Larry - You know, Belgium is a very SMALL country). Me and my friends think Leisure Suit Larry is the prototype of a good adventure game.
To the point: A year ago the idea grew to make a game about our school and our teachers (only to get a good laugh, not to insult someone) and we thought the best program to make it with (since we haven’t got the time nor the knowledge yet to program a whole game from zero) would be the Sierra Creative Interpreter. After days looking on the internet, we got a mail that the SCI isn’t given to the public and that we can’t get nor buy it.
Is this true ? And if yes, don’t you know a way to get it though ? It would be real fun to make our own games, without to many things to bother about (we dó know something about computers, we’re not the ample ‘Microsoft-Windows-Is-The-Easiest-Program-To-Work-With’-computer-“users”) Since we are not planning to make a ‘copy’ of an existing game (like LSL or KQ) but we have our own ideas - and we don’t have any commercial purposes, I don’t see why we shouldn’t be able to get in touch with such a program. I’m not desperate yet, but I would be very pleased to get an answer of someone that I admire and I know I can trust. (that’s you Al!)
I'm sorry if my English grammar and vocabulary aren't very well, I just can't do better.
Maarten Vanpuymbroeck
Dear Al,
I have been a Sierra On-Line fan for about 5 years now, I first got into it when I got Space Quest IV for Christmas of ‘94. Then I found of about Police Quest, Kings Quest, and then Leisure Suit Larry. I’ve been collecting each series ever since, and I can’t tell you how much fun I’ve had with each, especially LSL.
I remember the first time I saw Leisure Suit Larry. I think it was LSL 3, about 10 years ago, my dad was playing it all the time in his office at his work. I happened to be there one day, I watched him play it, he could never figure it out, either could I, but I remember how much he liked it, but what’s strange about it is that he never likes to play computer games.
When I first found out about Sierra and had gotten into the games, I became obsessed with it. The only games I would buy would be the ones with the Sierra symbol at the bottom of the box (adventure games especially). I subscribed to the Sierra On-Line Magazine “Interaction” only to find out about upcoming Space Quest, Kings Quest, Police Quest, and Leisure Suit Larry games.
Then I found out about the cancelling of Space Quest, and it crushed me. I could hardly believe that I would never buy another Space Quest game.
And after beating LSL 7, it says about an upcoming LSL 8 game, which got me excited, then I heard about the cancelling of LSL!!! “What is up with Sierra now?”, I would constantly ask myself. I know me and millions of other LSL fans would LOVE to see another LSL game, at least just ONE more! I mean, we grew up with these games, right? And I still can’t believe what Sierra did to you Al. Just cancelling LSL and your job at Sierra, it just isn’t right. Well, whatever the outcome, I just want to let you know, that I’ve had a HELL of a good time with these games.
So Al, Ken, Roberta, Scott, and everyone else, thanks for all the good memories, I’ve really enjoyed them! Sincerely,
Will Perry
Florence, AL
Al,
Hi. I'm (I hope) one of your biggest fans. I just wanted to say that I think it's very disappointing that Sierra "cancelled" Larry - the games are still my favorites of all the adventure games I've played. Mostly, though, I wanted to say thanks for creating those great games (and Freddy Pharkas, too), which I've played even though I'm *ahem* a good bit younger than I ought to be. I agree with your guestbook postings, I'd still like to see LSL4! If I saw you in person, I'd probably ask for your autograph, but instead I'm writing this silly note.
